ROmiromi
Traditional Māori bodywork
Romiromi is an ancient traditional Māori healing practice, a holistic form of bodywork that focuses on bringing your whole being back into balance, and helps facilitate the release of stagnant energy that is stored in the body on a cellular level.
These blockages are usually a combination of stress, tension and trauma that we’ve accumulated in this lifetime, and inter-generational trauma that has been passed down through our DNA.
Knowing that when we repress or suppress anything, it will eventually show up either in a physical or non-physical way. It is our responsibility to heal for ourselves, and especially for our mokopuna.
In a session we will use an ancient karakia (prayer) called kaupare to bless and open the space, wai tai (blessed sea water) to keep energies seperate, applied pressure to the main haemata (pressure points) of the tinana (body). I may also use rakau (wood) or kōhatu (stones) to facilitate the release of any blockages.
Our mahi is always supported by Te Taiao (the natural world that contains and surrounds us).
